Christopher Murphy teaches interactive design at the University of Ulster, Belfast, where he has been active in promoting a web standards-based curriculum for over a decade. As one half of tweed-clad duo The Standardistas he writes and speaks regularly on standards-based web design and the importance of improving web design education.
In addition to co-authoring the seminal beginners’ guide ‘HTML and CSS Web Standards Solutions – A Web Standardistas’ Approach’, he has written for a variety of publications, including 8 Faces, The Manual, 24 Ways, and his own, design-focused journal, Monographic.
Informing his role as an educator Murphy is a practicing designer whose work spans a variety of media. His work has featured in numerous magazines and books including Eye Magazine, widely acknowledged as one of the world’s leading design journals. Creative Review described him as, “a William Morris for the digital age,” an epithet he aspires daily to measure up to.
